I believe that therapy as a proactive tool used by an individual to make their life more fulfilling and productive. Therapy should not be viewed as an indication of mental illness, but rather , as mental health. Therapy is a way for a person to gain more understanding about themselves and those in their life and make positive changes, deal with issues such as addiction or other self defeating behaviors that get in the way of living the life they want. I view therapy as a partnership between the therapist and patient. The patient is proactive and involved in the work that is important to them.
