Many people come to counseling carrying a quiet sense of guilt — about past choices, unresolved experiences, or simply not feeling "at peace" despite moving forward in life. Guilt isn't always about wrongdoing. For many adults, it develops as a way of surviving, staying responsible, or holding themselves together during difficult seasons. Over time, it can become heavy, confusing, and hard to sort through alone. What I've learned in my work with adults navigating trauma and recovery: Healing doesn't follow a formula. Resolving guilt isn't about being told how to feel or what freedom should look like.
