RO-DBT California Collective located in Irvine, CA was founded to provide a compassionate, welcoming and supportive environment for individuals that struggle with over-thinking, obsessional thinking, trouble relaxing, rigid or inflexible responding, excessive self control, avoidance of feelings or expressing emotions, maladaptive perfectionism, and high levels of loneliness. People with overcontrol (OC) report "seeing the threat everywhere." They tend to mask emotional expressions, sometimes without even knowing they are. Many OC's have a high-attention-to-detail focus, and find they ruminate when things are uncertain or unexpected. Overcontrol has been linked to social isolation, poor interpersonal functioning, hyper-perfectionism, rigidity, risk aversion, lack of emotional expression, and difficult to treat mental health problems including chronic depression/anxiety and personality disorders: OCPD, Avoidant PD, Schizoid PD, Dependent PD. We also work with people with social anxiety.
