I work with people using a variety of philosophies, but humanistic and psychodynamic theories inform most of my practice. I am most interested in focusing on emotions, insight, relationships, past experiences, meta-emotion (one’s feelings about emotions), self-worth, authenticity, fantasies, and the unconscious. I rely heavily on discussing shame, vulnerability, emotional needs, and creating meaning in life. I find, as Carl Rogers did, that unconditional positive regard from the therapist allows a person to process feelings; acknowledge existential truths; develop a more free, authentic self; and have more meaningful relationships.
