I often work with folks that are concerned about or caregiving for a family member's mental health or alcohol/drug use and help them both find strategies to help their loved one in a more effective and sustainable way, as well as finding ways to improve their own quality of life despite their loved one's challenges. I also frequently see partners or families with ongoing communication breakdowns and help them find the empathy and compassion that they once had for each other while learning skills to express themselves more effectively and listen and understand their loved one more fully.
