About
I use evidence-based interventions with adolescents and adults who are struggling with worry, depression, identity, and navigating relationships (with themselves and others). Many of my clients are "high functioning" in that they get up each day, go to work or school (or both) and make it through the day. Yet, they also contend with issues like pervasive negative thoughts, overwhelming feelings of anxiety or loneliness, struggles with eating behavior and body image or compulsive behaviors, focusing attention, and managing difficult relationships. I work with clients to lighten the effects of these struggles on their lives. My training is in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). This means I help people learn to examine their thoughts, feelings, and behavior, and see how (and when) they have choice in their actions. I worked for many years a researcher in basic and applied psychology, and I have a clinical faculty appointment at NYU.
