When working with clients, I rely heavily on the therapeutic relationship. I believe the catalyst for growth is the bond between client and therapist. A therapeutic alliance promotes emotional expression, honesty, and it allows clients to take the risks necessary for growth in a supportive environment. To help my clients, I use cognitive-behavioral techniques (e.g., examining which thoughts and behaviors contribute to and take away from your experience), mindfulness (e.g., becoming more aware of yourself in a nonjudgmental way) and relaxation training.
