About
The first light of day peeks through the blinds. You’re awake, already lost in a dense forest of anxious thoughts. Always an over-thinker, you're so familiar with the dark cloud of worries and what-ifs that easily spiral out of control. Dragging yourself out of bed, your reflection reveals the cost of many nights of less than restful sleep. The well-known knot appears in your belly as you imagine the ways things could go sideways today. Armoring up as you dress to leave, each button and zipper reminds you of the inner and outer dragons to be slayed. Will you ever shake the feeling of impending failure and wasted potential? You do the requisite deep breaths to calm your racing heart and thoughts but the worries hang around. Any shred of peace is promptly drowned out. Plastering a smile on your face - you’re so good at this part! - you camouflage the inner turmoil. Eking out a moment of space by distracting feels like a weak medieval shield against all the things you've avoided.
