It took me many years of personal psychotherapy to recognize and understand the role of trauma in my healing journey. Trauma is the way your body responds to what was done to you. Whether it was verbal, sexual, or physical abuse or it was neglect or isolation, the result is the same....trauma rewires the nervous system leaving you fearful and never feeling safe. If you can relate to this, you're not alone. After 43 years of practicing psychology, here's what I've learned: nearly every psychological problem is rooted in some kind of trauma. Without addressing the underlying trauma, emotional problems never get resolved. I can help As a former Adjunct Professor of Psychology and Psychiatry, I combine my background in neuroscience and psychotherapy to create a nurturing approach that looks at all aspects of patient functioning. I emphasize optimal health and wellness in addition to understanding emotional suffering and illness. I treat individuals and couples with compassion and care.
