Hi! My name is Sydney and I am happy you're here. I never know what to write in these, but I'll start by saying the boring things. My concentration for my social work degree was mental health and trauma. Because of this, I approach therapy in a trauma-informed way and like to get to know the whole of a person and what makes them unique. I run sessions in a couple different ways based on what you’re comfortable with. One way is adding structure, so if you happen to come in with not much to say, no problem! I’ve got ideas! Otherwise, I find it important to allow for client led sessions more often than not! I work primarily with chronic/acute stress and trauma, so I work from the Internal Family Systems (IFS) theory and Somatic Therapy. Both of these models ask you to feel your emotions, rather than think through them, which allows our brains to process and heal fully. I am there as a guide and model for these practices during sessions, as well!
