Hello, I'm Sylvia. I earned my BA from the University of Rhode Island, my MSW from Boston College, and my PhD from Northeastern University. With a rich background in clinical work, I've had the privilege of working with mental health clients, abuse survivors, individuals with substance use disorders, and correctional populations. Additionally, I am honored to hold the title of Professor Emerita from the University of Massachusetts Boston. Over the years, I've authored five textbooks on topics such as substance abuse, substance abuse treatment, family violence, child welfare, and mental illness.
