Working with clients is a privilege, not just an occupation. The work we do as therapists can change the trajectory of a person's life. I do not skirt around the tough issues when someone asks me for help. My role is not to get paid for chit chat. We determine what your goals are and envision success- problem solving the most effective ways to get you where you want to be, breaking down the barriers along the way as much as possible. Often we create our own barriers and prevent our own progress. I only use what works- after 20 years as a counselor I have weeded out the BS and have found what works.
