My target community or population are those people living with disabilities, particularly those of the amputee population.. Many people living in today’s society are facing health issues, which could affect their quality of life, and how the adaptation of a life changing event may result in grief, depression, stigmatization, and isolation, due to the inability to receive appropriate mental health services and counseling, to assist in navigating through the changes which may cause feelings or despair and hopelessness. Behavioral Health services could assist individuals with learning how to prevent the devastating effect of limb loss. As a person who has experienced the challenges of living with an amputation, I am an expert in the passage of transitioning through the barriers associated with a disability which precipitates mental adjustments, as well as physical adaptations to environmental, physiological, sociological, and economic barriers, and learning how to overcome them.
