Many of us come to therapy because we continue to carry pain from past experiences; pain that has shaped how we see ourselves, relate to others, and move through the world. Beneath that pain, however, lies an innate capacity for healing, which can emerge in the safety of a compassionate therapeutic relationship. Since beginning my work in the mental health field nearly 15 years ago, I have recognized that a strong therapeutic relationship is the cornerstone of meaningful change.
