I have been in private practice for the last 15 years. I work with individuals. Most of my clients are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, depressed, or all three. Typically they are making their way through a major upheaval in their lives, such as divorce, tragic loss, job stress, severe communication problems, and strained family relationships. They're often depressed, angry, confused, or anxious. My work with couples and families is for the most part communication therapy. I never stop being amazed when clients explain to me that for the first time they're feeling heard, really heard, by their partners, children, or parents.
