From birth, we start forming a sense of self and expectations about our environment. Ideally, we have our basic needs for safety and nurture provided. But when not, we employ innate responses to these threats and deprivations, and patterns form in our behavior that serve to protect us from these perceived threats or deprivations. These are normal adaptive behaviors, but can become barriers over time that block the development of a fully functional and gratifying life. It has been my life's work and passion to assist others in their sacred journey to discover, understand, and replace these barriers with more functional skills. View 4 Photos The capacity of a therapist to offer an empathic relationship is essential, and discovering a link to each person is part of the initial state of therapy. Basic to my approach to psychotherapy is a broad grasp of and respect for what has worked through many years of experience, coupled with continuous exploration of new avenues of intervention.
