Many of us are taught over the course of our lives to overcome challenges and make sense of the world on our own. We learn to manage things internally and to keep a tight lid on what is really going on. While this may work at times, it can wear us down and leave us longing for more. As a therapist, my hope is to collaboratively build a safe relationship of mutual trust, where together we can learn to talk about the things that are difficult to talk about. I see the therapeutic relationship as a container for the overwhelming and seemingly nonsensical troubles and feelings that burden us.
