After working in preventative mental health care as a mindfulness educator, I gravitated towards social work because of its emphasis on exploring ourselves in the context of the world around us. My orientation as a mental health counselor is rooted in curiosity about what it means to be human and to heal. It is also grounded in the belief that any work we do to understand ourselves more deeply can have a profound reparative impact that goes beyond the individual into the community at large.
