When I think of my ideal client, a particular one comes to mind. She was an immigrant with limited English proficiency and history of trauma. She was in a domestic violence relationship when we started. She had many needs - her and her children's protection, emotional support, and community resources. But her primary goal was to decrease her anxiety so that she could provide for her family peacefully. One of the areas I work in is domestic violence, and in this work I allow the client to make her own choices about her welfare so that she can utilize her own power and control. I also establish a space of safety, privacy, and care.
