My first experience with counseling was at 17 following a rollover car accident, what my therapist and I worked on helps me to this day & daily. I know now what we did was/is bio-feedback, more commonly "breath work." Back then I'd thought I was just talking to a friendly older gentleman & doing breathing exercises at my parents' behest. I smile when I think of my former self, I knew everything and nothing; teenage ego. Modern therapy has become more quantifiable & precise, yet at its core it remains about human connection, emotional safety and acceptance juxtaposed with daring & vulnerable challenges, and ultimately healing.
