About
Are you struggling with avoidance, anger, overworking, excessive substance use, or impulsivity? Do you have a hard time saying no, or setting healthy boundaries for yourself? These behaviors might feel like they are running your life, but in fact they are only parts of who you are. Therapy can help you find more balance and get in touch with your true self. I use somatic approaches like EMDR and IFS (also known as "parts work") to help clients identify painful experiences from the past that may be driving present-day behaviors, and process these distressing memories so that they are no longer running the show. My sessions are typically unstructured, to allow for exploration and insight-building. However, I also enjoy teaching practical skills to improve your communication, help you tolerate distress, and regulate your nervous system. When it comes to substance use, I use a harm reduction model. I also work with many people whose goal is total abstinence.
