You've decided to try therapy. Good for you! It takes courage and insight to recognize when you need help and to ask for it. How do you choose among the many therapists? Consider making a list of your preferences: gender, age, experience, location, cost. If you have insurance, it makes sense to use an in-network provider but you may also have out of network benefits which a call to your insurance company will clarify. To find a good fit, consider talking with 2-3 therapists about why you are seeking treatment and ask how they could help. Assess your comfort level with each and then make a choice. Trust your gut!
