Through my 20 years of being a foster/adopt parent, I have experienced how trauma, attachment, anxiety, learning disorders, Autism, ADHD, and mood disorders, affect daily functioning and the ability to enjoy life. I have come to appreciate how important it is to feel a sense of safety and belonging. We are biologically wired to need connections/relationships for optimal growth and development. However, negative life experiences, the inability to self-regulate our emotions, or other mental health concerns, can negatively affect the way we interact with others, causing difficulties in building those positive relationships we need.
