I am a psychodynamic/analytically trained clinical social worker. I have been teaching clinical practice and practicing for over 30 years. Its often quite frightening to come to a stranger and share one's suffering. I often recommend that one initially goes for a consultation. The consultation hopefully, will provide a sense if the therapist can be of help. Therapy is a collaboration of two people. People often seek therapy when there is a painful loss or disappointment in their lives. Understanding and support helps in the recovery process.
