By day, Benjamin Shepard, PhD, LMSW, works as Professor of Human Services at City Tech/CUNY. By night, he works to meet people where they are at, helping them find adaptive tools for living in a complicated world. He works from a harm reduction approach, helping those in care beat back stigmatizing narratives, in favor of more adaptive approaches. He takes a decidedly open, non-judgemental approach to working with drug users, those interested in alternative lifestyles, and those who feel as though they are outsiders. He has worked with activists for years and understands the complicated feelings of grief and burnout many feel.
