Hi, my name is Carla, I am a woman of color who specializes in Perinatal and Postpartum depression and anxiety, intimate partner violence, and substance use disorders, and grief with a specific focus in the BIPOC community. As a mother of four adult children I understand the impact and difficulties of adjusting to life’s unexpected transitions. Most would say pregnancy is a time for new life and joys, however this may not be the experience for some Mothers, in fact 10-15% of pregnant women suffer from Postpartum depression, and numbers are higher for women of color.
