The most common question I am asked when it comes to my profession is, “What made you want to be a therapist?” I think the majority of therapists would respond with different variations of the same underlying theme: “I want to help people.” Don’t get me wrong, I do want to help people, but I would be lying if I said that is what propelled me into obtaining my job title. The truth is this: I resonate with broken people. Trauma doesn’t make me uncomfortable. Addiction doesn’t evoke judgment within me. Depression doesn’t make you any less successful when I think of you. Anxiety doesn’t make you any less productive when I see you.
