I have been licensed as a marriage, family therapist since 1982. I believe strongly in the use of "brief solution focused therapy," using behavorial, cognitive, family systems orientation in working with clients. I enjoy helping couples develop more conscious, thoughtful ways of communicating using Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy(REBT) by Albert Ellis. I also use Parent Effectiveness Training by Tom Gordon, using active-listening, and "I" statements. Couples who are willing to do the work, often find their relationships much more satisfying as they practice new skills.
