Growing up in an Indo-Caribbean family, I witnessed firsthand the struggles of a community that had lack of access to mental health education and resources to help understand and process these issues. This deeply influenced my decision to pursue a career in mental health. Since 2011, I have mostly worked in a psychiatric hospital setting, where I dealt with psychosis and crisis interventions, and outpatient care. The pandemic brought significant changes, and I transitioned to private practice.
