My ideal client is an adult between 18-65 years old struggling with symptoms of depression and anxiety who is highly motivated to address past and childhood traumas related to their symptoms. For this client, I would begin with psychotherapy focused on current symptoms and the impacts. Then I would review client's psychosocial history to explore the various traumas related to present day symptoms. Then clinician would educate client on various coping skills to manage immediate negative emotions and engage in motivational interviewing then engage in EMDR treatment to reduce the emotion.
