My definition of empathy is seeing with another's eyes, listening with another's ears, and feeling with another's heart. This is the philosophical mantra of my sensitivity to other people's feelings, emotions, and desires. My genuine, empathetic relationship with clients and mutual trust are essential to successful therapy. I pride myself on being a compassionate listener to individuals who have faced life’s most profound challenges, suffered from mood disorders, experienced trauma, grief, abuse, or relational problems, and suffered multiple stresses, including those related to work and academia.
