Recovery from substance abuse or addiction is no easy task. Coming to the realization that it is time to address this is a big first step. Finding the right therapist who can manage and address the unique challenges met by those in the queer community has been an obstacle for many, especially for queer folx of color. As part of the team at Petrichor Healing Family Therapy, I offer a therapeutic intervention to address substance abuse/addiction. Coming form a Liberation Psychology perspective, I assist client in understanding the purpose substances have served in our lives. I offer some experience, strength, and hope in battling this problem, utilizing foundational ideas.
