Stressful situations or painful events can change the trajectory of our life in powerful and lasting ways. A traumatizing experience such as an assault or accident, experiences of abuse, the death of someone close to you, a life-changing medical condition, losing your job, or major adjustments such as retirement or the end of a relationship can leave us feeling lost, alone, hopeless, angry, and afraid.
