Throughout my career as a licensed mental health counselor, I've had the honor to bear witness to people's life stories; their hardships and triumphs. I've had the privilege to assist them in developing new perspectives that serve to increase their sense of inner-strength and resiliency. People tend to transcend difficulties when they feel understood and supported by an empathic listener. I strive to create a warm and accepting therapeutic relationship whereby clients feel safe to share on a deep level. I think people are doing the best they can with what they know, and counseling is about broadening that awareness. I have worked with diverse populations on a variety of issues including navigating interpersonal relationships, grief, anxiety, depression, and substance use disorders (using a harm reduction model). I have worked with women who are transitioning out of controlling relationships, to help them recover a sense of safety and confidence.
