"Mental health isn't a thing. Talking about feelings and experiences isn't going to help. Things will get better by just putting my head down and powering through. I'm strong, self-reliant, and I don't need any help. I'll be fine just the way I am." These are all valid thoughts and feelings for an individual to have and many people believe these statements are true. Stereotypically, men especially, fall into these thought patterns. The numbers reflect this, approximately 30% vs 70% of those seeking counseling are men vs women. We are taught men don't have feelings and if they do they sure as hell don't talk to anybody about them.
