When words aren't enough. Whether the client is a child, a teen, an adult or a family, I find offering non-verbal therapies, expressive therapies such as art therapy and Sandplay often enhances my client's ability to solve problems, enable expression of feelings, and communicate with self and others. I have been a registered art therapist for many years and in the last twenty I have expanded that base by becoming a Certified Teaching member of the Sandplay Therapists of America. Art therapy and Sandplay therapy require that one trust an inner self that is free to explore, and to put aside critical assessments of one's artistic abilities. By providing a safe and nurturing environment, the hands and heart can inform the conscious ego with shapes, images, and symbols of lesser known parts of oneself.
