I view the majority of mental health concerns through a holistic lens, taking into account and understanding the micro and macro level variables that impact one's mental health concerns (from diet, biology, and family system difficulties, to socioeconomic class and cultural and religious views). I am skeptical of the biomedical model of mental health (and related psychiatric diagnoses) that often minimizes the role of environmental context while viewing symptoms as pathological things that need to be cured, rather than coping mechanisms that need to be understood.
