About
If you’re worried about your young person's safety, school, or relationships, you’re not alone. Many parents come to DBT HQ after trying everything—yet their young person is still overwhelmed by emotions, shutting down, lashing out, or engaging in self-destructive behaviors. Emotion dysregulation isn’t a phase. It’s a sign that their brain struggles to manage intense feelings. And there is a science back treatment designed for exactly this. Dialectical Behavior Therapy for Adolescents and Young Adults (DBT-A) is the gold-standard treatment for adolescents and young adults with intense emotions and impulsivity. Treatment is structured as a 12-month program that includes Individual Sessions, a Multifamily Skills Group, and Parent Sessions. Parents are active participants in treatment—not only learning the same skills as their teen, but also gaining insight into their own patterns of behavior that perpetuates dysregulation.
