My approach to counseling is a balance of a straightforward communication with the belief that clients are the experts of themselves. My goal is to help clients to discover their own inner wisdom and support a plan to move out of their stuckness. I believe that our early childhood experiences along with traumas we have experienced play a leading part in the stories we tell ourselves about who we are today. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) & the owner of Melissa Carlson Counseling. I hold a Master's Degree in Counseling, a Master's Degree in Teaching, & a Bachelor's Degree with a Minor in Family & Child Studies.
