The primary guiding principle in my approach to therapy is empathy. I am convinced that "feeling with" people is a key to healing. When people feel listened to and truly understood, an atmosphere of mutual respect is created. It has been my experience that people do not feel valued unless they know that someone is genuinely interested in understanding their pain.
