Having been in private practice for over 30 years as well as having worked in hospital, clinic, and school settings, I 've found people are unique individuals typically involved in a variety of systems including family, friends, school, or work. As a result, I've found it important to focus on individual makeup (nature vs. nurture) and environmental influences. Creating a respectful, warm, engaging atmosphere helps facilitate the therapuetic process. Research has shown that the therapuetic relationship between client and psychologist has proved most valuable in creating healthy and productve changes and an improved quality of life.
