I see clients in individual couple or family therapy depending on the issues the client wants to address and together we define goals and the best modality to achieve those goals. Other than diagnostic description for insurance reimbursement, I prefer to see the problems not as just in the individual but rather in the context in which the individual is functioning. Therefore I ideally include as much of that context as possible in the therapeutic work. While my degree is a Master's of Social Work, I subsequently trained at The Ackerman Institute for Family Therapy and in the Intensive Supervision Program of Jay Haley and Chloe Madanes. My theoretical orientation is therefore in family systems.
