During the past thirty years, Nancy Turret has been a senior clinical and research psychiatric social worker at The New York State Psychiatric Institute at Columbia University Medical Center. As an Instructor in Clinical Psychiatric Social Work at Columbia University and New York University. Nancy has also taught Adult Psychopathology at Columbia University Graduate School of Social Work as an adjunct professor. Special focus exists on helping patients deal with grief, ambiguous losses and family estrangements. Work is conducted with individuals, couples and families. Nancy has developed a variety of eclectic skills including cognitive -behavioral interventions, motivational interviewing strategies, complicated grief principles as well as supportive psychotherapy interventions. With a speciality in dealing with loss, Nancy addresses issues associated with ambiguous loss and complicated grief loss.
