I’m a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor from Dorchester, Massachusetts, and for the past eight years I’ve been helping men, women, and adolescents fight their battles with addiction. From both personal experience and professional work, I’ve learned an important truth: “the change is in the thinking, not the doing.” Real change starts with how we see and understand ourselves, because our thoughts drive our actions. Sometimes those thoughts are weighed down by trauma, anxiety, depression, or difficult relationships — but by working through them, we open the door to becoming our best selves.
