My approach is neurodiversity affirming. My role as an evaluator is to listen, understand, & accept a client's lived experience & help identify their struggles, as well as identifying their strengths and aspirations. The evaluation process is a collaborative one in which clients, regardless of age (youths get to be truly heard), have an opportunity to share experiences without time constraints & without having to be viewed solely through a set of test data & questionnaires. While these tools can help clients communicate concerns, test data alone is not the best method in truly understanding one's unique experiences & circumstances. My evaluations are tailored to the client's needs & I collaborate with the client on identifying goals & recommendations based on what the CLIENT wishes to work on, not on what SOCIETY thinks they need to work on.
