About
I work with individual adults, couples, and families. During the three decades I've been working as a psychotherapist, I've been fortunate to encounter a diverse array of people and to work collaboratively with them on their problems of living. In my clinical experience and in my studies of the literature, I've found that most human struggles are not adequately explained by a medical model that considers such struggles as analogs to medical diseases. I'll work with you on emotional, psychological, environmental and relationship issues. I'm usually a good match with people who want to change the quality of their lives. I've been in the field long enough to take the best features of traditional forms of therapy and blend those with more recent approaches to treatment. I benefitted from training with some of the greats of our field, such as Carl Rogers, Arnold Lazarus, and Salvatore Minuchin. And, I've conducted NIMH-funded research on the effectiveness of psychotherapies.
