About
I enjoy using IFS (Internal Family Systems) and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing to work with adults and older adults who are going through a major life "event," such as depression, retirement, or grief. I see many fellow social workers and healthcare providers and we work together in figuring out how to be emotionally ok while working in healthcare to avoid burnout. Many of my clients are caregivers who need support and validation around being so isolated. Clients do best with me who are open to changing some behaviors (including self-care) and are not easily offended when some "therapeutic cussing" occurs! I'm a licensed clinical social worker in MO, KS, and FL and have worked over 23 yrs as a therapist with adults and older adults. I've worked in community mental health, the KU Alzheimer's Disease Center, and The Landon Center on Aging providing mental health therapy and education. I've been a hospice social worker as well as an adjunct professor at UMKC.
