Relocating from Morocco to the United States was a life-altering experience that profoundly shaped who I am as a clinician. As a teenager arriving in an unfamiliar country, culture, and language, the transition was frightening and isolating. I left behind the comfort of a large family and strong support system and struggled emotionally with disconnection and cultural adjustment. Over time, support from my immediate family and meaningful community relationships helped me adapt and heal. These experiences taught me the power of resilience, compassion, and connection, ultimately leading me to pursue a career in social work.
