I have been working as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor for almost 30 years. I began my career doing play therapy with young children. While I loved that, I discovered that there is so much more to be explored in therapy when working with a variety of age groups. Over the years I have worked with many different ages and populations and I feel as though I’ve learned from my clients as much as they have learned from me. I believe that the connection that you have with your therapist is the first step to meeting any goal. While I often take a direct approach with my clients, I also tell them, “my goals can’t be your goals.
