Shahem is a Black, queer therapist currently stationed in Brooklyn, New York. Shahem earned their Master’s in Social Work from New York University’s Silver School of Social Work as well as two Bachelor’s degrees in both Political Science and Women & Gender Studies. Through the usage of their keen awareness of positionality in a capitalistic, White supremacist, patriarchal society Shahem assists marginalized, patriarchy-impacted people in coping with the stress and trauma of it all. Shahem approaches healing through a multifaceted, identity-focused lens. Through the utilization of modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Functional Family Therapy (FFT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Shahem centers community in the therapeutic journey while emphasizing a strengths-based perspective.
